In “Cobweb,” directed by Samuel Bodin, audiences are drawn into a haunting world where young Peter faces unexplained noises and a mysterious voice in his bedroom wall. Despite initial fear, Peter finds comfort in the enigmatic voice, unaware of its true intentions. Although Philip Lozano’s cinematography sets an eerie atmosphere, the film fails to fully deliver on its horror promises. Jump scares lack impact, and the plot twists are easily foreseeable. Several intriguing subplots, such as a missing trick-or-treater and Peter’s encounters with bullies, are introduced but remain underdeveloped and unresolved. While commendable performances, particularly by Woody Norman as Peter, add depth to the characters, “Cobweb” struggles to become the gripping and terrifying horror experience it aspires to be.
